Full Job Description

We are on the lookout for a talented, passionate Carpenter/Cabinet maker with considerable experience of bespoke kitchen or cabinetry/furniture manufacture. The successful applicant will be responsible for the creation of unique high end kitchen cabinetry and components, as well as the assembly of catalogued high end kitchen units. This role requires a unique blend of technical ability, a good natural working speed, a deep understanding of traditional craftsmanship, hands on practical woodworking skills, and a strong knowledge of manufacturing processes

Responsibilities:

· Design Interpretation: Interpret design specifications and blueprints to understand the required dimensions, materials, and components for each cabinet project.

· Material Selection: Select appropriate materials such as wood, plywood, or composite materials based on design requirements, quality standards, and budget considerations.

· Cutting and Shaping: Use woodworking tools and machinery, such as saws, routers, and sanders, to cut and shape materials according to design specifications.

· Joinery and Assembly: Utilise various joinery techniques, including butt joints, dovetail joints, and mortise and tenon joints, to assemble cabinet components accurately and securely.

· Finishing and Detailing: Apply stains, paints, or finishes to enhance the appearance and durability of cabinets, ensuring a smooth and uniform finish. Add decorative elements such as molding, trim, and hardware to complete the cabinet's aesthetic.

· Quality Control: Inspect finished cabinets for defects, imperfections, or discrepancies, ensuring adherence to quality standards and design specifications.

· Component Preparation: Prepare cabinet components, including doors, drawers, shelves, and panels, for assembly by sanding, drilling, and fitting hardware as necessary.

· Assembly Process: Follow assembly instructions or blueprints to correctly assemble cabinet components, ensuring precise alignment and fit.

· Hardware Installation: Install hinges, handles, knobs, and other hardware components onto cabinets, ensuring proper functionality and alignment.

· Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cabinet makers, designers, and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.

· Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when operating machinery, handling materials, and performing assembly tasks to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.

· Experience: Proven experience in a similar role within the bespoke kitchen industry. Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control.

· Technical Skills: Knowledge of traditional craftsmanship techniques making use of woodworking machinery to produce bespoke Joinery products.

· Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a keen eye for quality to achieve impeccable finishes.

· Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different departments. Experience working in a team, and contributing positively towards creating and maintaining a good working environment

· Adaptability: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.

· Safety Consciousness: Commitment to following safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.

Job Spec Processing: Ability to interpret and process job spec sheets to ensure accurate, Right First Time manufacturing.
