Full Job Description

  • To manage the implementation of information systems projects and tasks associated with the customer services function.

  • To advise senior management in IT and other functions about systems development and support

  • To analyse business system requirements and to configure and implement systems which meet those requirements., 1. Management and participation within projects

  • The Business Analyst (BA) will participate in and occasionally manage projects approved for the implementation or improvement of systems either wholly or for elements of a larger project managed overall by the Project Manager or Solution Architect.

  • During projects the BA will be responsible for reporting progress to the Project Manager or Solution Architect including raising issues likely to threaten the implementation plan and an analysis of current and planned costs.

  • Finally, the BA must contribute to the transition of any support to the Service Desk and be able to liaise and support the functional area as required. This may occasionally be required outside normal office hours.


  • 2. Working with the Specified Functions
  • The Business Analyst is an important part of the liaison between the Customers Services and Logistics functions and IT, for the understanding and use of information systems. As such the BA must have a thorough and up to date understanding of the business aspects of these areas.

  • Additionally the Business Analyst must be able to relate business systems capabilities to the needs of these functions and to ensure that projects are relevant, timely and deliver continuous improvements.

  • The Business Analyst must have specific expertise in Sales and Distribution processes. This should include a strong understanding of the related core SAP SD processes and procedures.

  • The Business Analyst needs to have a detailed understanding of functional and technical aspects of SAP Sales and Distribution including EDI and any associated functionality and technology in the ERP and BW applications. He/she must be able to communicate with business and technical staff at all levels and be sufficiently skilled in the configuration & testing of relevant IT systems.


  • 3. Business Analyst Responsibilities
  • Determine requirements for systems by examination of those existing, defining volumes and processes and interviewing users.

  • Design and amend business processes, in conjunction with business users, to comply with the departmental standards

  • Configure systems according to agreed processes, and document clearly, in accordance with departmental standards.

  • Prepare test data and conduct thorough testing of processes.

  • Assist user departments with the training, data conversion and acceptance testing that is required for the introduction of new processes.

  • Contribute to determination of systems development standards and techniques and ensure adherence to them.

  • Adherence to the company's governance and management procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant internal controls.

  • Operate quality control tests both pre and post implementation of systems.

  • Liaise with Solutions Architect and IT Delivery Manager to co-ordinate development and live systems support.

  • Contribute to development of departmental policy by acquiring and contributing knowledge of industry trends and their application in business scenarios.

  • Provide such assistance to the IT Service Desk Team as is needed to aid the smooth running of the department.

    Experience of at least one full SAP implementation cycles as a configurer/business analyst

  • At least 3 years of experience of development, configuration and implementation of SAP SD, MM,

  • At least 3 years of experience of development, configuration and implementation and WMS.

  • Detailed configuration and application knowledge of the SAP SD module including the following specific areas

  • Sales Order Processing

  • Sales Contracts

  • Condition Techniques. Billing & Invoicing

  • Output conditions

  • Logistics Execution

  • EDI .

  • Experience of SAP EWM would be desirable but not essential.

  • Broad understanding of business processes associated with all aspects of an FMCG manufacturing operation.

  • Broad understanding of business processes associated with all aspects of an FMCG traded operation.

  • Proven experience of dealing with technical and business people within the context of IT systems implementation.
