Full Job Description

  • To take and deal effectively with telephone calls, email requests, post and communication, and personal visitors, maintaining any necessary records.

  • To send and receive emails.

  • To deal with the incoming and outgoing post, maintaining the necessary records.

  • To make use of the necessary filing systems including electronic filing systems.

  • To make use of the Church's database systems, communicating with church members, groups, and team leaders to ensure accurate information is held.

  • To support other staff and volunteers in the daily use of the various office systems.

  • To provide administrative support to Church, Preschool and Conference for a variety of tasks as they arise, including word processing, spreadsheets and other detailed record keeping.

  • Offering advice and support on the best means of meeting the variety of new and changing requirements


  • Finance:
  • To receive and bank weekly offerings / collections ensuring each is verified by two signatures as required by Charity Commission. To bank any other income received promptly, checking amounts prior to banking. Ensuring cash goes to the correct account.

  • To make payments to creditors in a timely and cash efficient way.

  • To operate and maintain the computerised accounts in use at the time in an accurate, effective and efficient way by entering all income and expenditure transactions for the various bank accounts.

  • To support the reconciliation and balancing of each account with the bank monthly.

  • To assist with the making of all payments from Church accounts' ensuring proper authority has been obtained from budget holders, authorised officers, Conference Centre General Manager, or Preschool Manager in accordance with annual budget approvals.

  • To ensure all cheques are signed by at least two approved signatories obtaining signatures as necessary. Providing sufficient supporting documentation for them to sign with confidence.

  • To assist with ordering goods/stationery from approved suppliers seeking best deals at all times.

  • To inform Treasurer or Executive Pastor, via Operations Co-ordinator or Finance Officer as appropriate, immediately of any matters of concern relating to the operation or contents of any Church accounts and thereby fulfil all obligations in respect of this appointment.

  • To deal with members, customers, suppliers, and general visitors to the Office of New Life Church Ministries.


  • Operations:
  • To produce newsletters, flyers, and other publications.

  • To maintain records and processes in line with the Church's current database system.

  • To liaise with team leaders as necessary to ensure information/records are correct.

  • To upload content for Sunday service outlines and services using relevant programmes (e.g. YouVersion, YouTube).

  • To support the co-ordination of the Church's daily and weekly operations for achieving the purposes and objectives set by the NLCM(S) Board and Vision Team.

  • To support the co-ordination of the weekly programme of services and activities and communicate plans to relevant teams and individuals.

  • To support the upkeep and production of documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and similar activities to ensure all necessary productions are in place and ready for Sunday Services and other events.


  • The training you will be getting

  • The successful candidate will work towards achieving their Apprenticeship Standard in Business Administrator Level 3.

  • A dedicated work-based trainer will be assigned to the candidate to provide them with support and guidance throughout the course. This is a prominently work-based programme with College attendance required once a month. All learning will take place at the candidate's place of employment/College and within their contracted working hours.

    Communication skills, IT skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Problem solving skills, Administrative skills, Number skills, Logical, Team working, Initiative, Non judgemental, GCSE or equivalent English and Maths (Grade A/9 - C/4) Essential, The vacancy does involve working within an openly Christian organisation (a church). The apprentice needs to be able to uphold the ethos and values of the church and be open to praying with others.
