WHAT TO EXPECT

The Alliances & Collaboration pillar is responsible for activating enterprise strategy through an optimally curated external network. The team both establishes and manages JLR's external collaborations & alliances capabilities that align with priorities set by the wider Enterprise Strategy team. We act as JLR's most overt advocate to the outside world to uncover & influence new or emerging capabilities critical to our long-term ambitions. The team has a lateral viewpoint to look beyond the automotive & mobility sector, aiming to tap into new opportunities. These opportunities could emerge from adjacent industry's capabilities and long-term ambitions.

You will be responsible for researching and managing alliances & collaboration opportunities. You will guide & support enterprise strategy functions in developing options to execute strategies that require external activation. This will include:

  • Benchmarking automotive and non-automotive alliances and collaboration in line with enterprise strategy.

  • Scan, identify & conduct initial assessment of potential enterprise strategic alliances or collaboration opportunities (e.g. luxury, technology, etc) based on key inputs & long-term direction.

  • Support the Head of Alliances & Collaboration in building early-stage enterprise relationships, visioning and opportunity alignment between JLR and external organisations at C-Suite Level on specific strategic topics.

  • Engage with JLR business function leaders, SMEs and Strategic Partnership team (Procurement) to align, qualify and develop early-stage long term strategic opportunities.

  • Handover opportunity portfolios and incubated ideas to Strategic Partnership team (Procurement) to validate, deliver and scale.

  • Represent JLR Enterprise to external organisations where appropriate, including attending key networking and industry/non-industry events on strategic topics.


  • You will also be expected to support and develop both your direct team and those who indirectly support you, motivating and bringing through the next generation of talent.

  • Big picture thinking & creative mindset - thinks beyond current business ambitions or constraints with an ability to think strategically to connect the dots.

  • Excellent stakeholder, relationship management skills, collaboration and communication, including with c-suites. skills: ability to build meaningful relationships.

  • Ability to clearly communicate & present complex problems into simple, compelling messages/decision points. Ability to navigate ambiguity with a learning mindset.

  • A self-starter who can activate a strategic ambition through forming relationships with partner organisations. Strong project management skills.

  • Competently promote JLR's ambitions at events & conferences, discover high value connections with relevant organisations & experts.

  • Curious to learn about future trends, able to work with cross functional stakeholders to envision a future state, map out the steps to achieve them.


  • Knowledge
  • Good knowledge on JLR brands, products, competitors, and positioning along with a solid understanding of global business conditions for the automotive sector and adjacent industries.

  • Broad knowledge on the mobility industry and other adjacent sectors congruent to JLR's Reimagine strategy., Extensive professional background (engineering or science) with experiences in automotive or similar sectors (defence, aviation, heavy industry, etc). Educated to degree level or equivalent preferred.

  • Well-rounded skills developed in a complex product development environment, end-to-end understanding of innovation to product development, production, sales and aftersales care.

  • Proven track record in planning and executing programmes & initiatives with minimal guidance.

  • Success in incubating and managing enterprise level collaborations built on long lasting trust at all levels.
