Full Job Description

Responsible for the day-to-day accounting procedures and operations that support the effective and efficient working of the accounting department, working to agreed deadlines to ensure internal and external reporting requirements are met. In addition to the accounting duties this role will cover the office management duties, ordering stationary and supplies , organising events.

  • To input and process invoices and receipts into the accounting system to ensure timely payments can be made via the online banking system and the management accounts can be as accurate as possible

  • Accurate and effective collection, posting and storage of invoices and supporting documentation to ensure all inputs are stored and coded correctly and authorised, VAT where applicable is correctly coded and reclaimed, to agreed deadlines

  • Daily maintenance of excel cashbooks, utilising excel to upload the receipts and payments into the accounting system

  • Allocation of monies paid and received to the ledgers, and customer and vendor ledgers to be kept reconciled and tidy

  • Reconciliation of all bank statements and corporate cards

  • Being proactive across the business concerning involvement in seeking resolution with other departments regarding issues that have a financial impact on the business, such as involvement in customer shortage or returns issues, or chasing refunds or credit notes from vendors

  • Answering internal queries regarding accounting matters

  • Answering and dealing with telephone queries from customers, clients and suppliers

  • General administrative duties including filing and maintenance of accounts records, along with the handling and distribution of post and email communications

  • To provide support to the accounting department

  • To be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work

  • To perform any reasonable request from supervisors/managers

  • To work flexibly across other areas of the business on different tasks when the business requires
