Join us as a Maintenance/Engineering Instructor, and you'll join one of the most exciting and challenging projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

At EDF, we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes, alongside supporting Britain's production of net zero power through our current nuclear generating fleet.

As a Training Instructor, you will form part of our Nuclear workforce, working within the Nuclear Skills Alliance (NSA). Once qualified, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of Maintenance and/or Engineering training, using both classroom and simulated environments.

In your role, you will ensure accuracy of material, adherence to the training standards/procedures, and excellence in quality of delivery. You will be required to travel and deliver training where required, to ensure personnel have the required knowledge to carry out their roles to a high level.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a team with a wide variety of skills, experience and knowledge, who will support you in your role as you make a major impact on the performance of the organisation and facilitate the growth of knowledge for both Nuclear New Build and Nuclear Operations colleagues.,

  • Developing and delivering Maintenance and Engineering Training related training material.

  • Delivering training in classroom and plant simulator environments, as well as providing coaching and mentoring of trainees to expedite learning.

  • Acting as course coordinator for responsible training areas.

  • Leading and delivering training to groups from 1 up to 20 people, depending on the subject and environment.

  • Acting as the subject matter expert for your area and demonstrating a deep understanding of the relevant company standards, becoming the company expert and representative in your areas.

  • Ensuring company values, safety and operational experience are embedded throughout the training, training material and lesson plans.

  • Communicating with line managers for the successful development of competence within your staff.

  • Maintaining relationships within our nuclear family, with differing technologies and Subject Matter Experts for development of material.

  • Communicating with external contractors if required, to provide training support services.

  • Fully contributing to the business plan of the NSA and our nuclear family in support of achievement of our company organisational goals.

    HNC or Higher-level qualification, in a relevant technical subject.

  • Experience in one, or more, of Mechanical, Electrical or I&C related engineering/maintenance disciplines

  • Experience of working in the field of Power Generation is desirable, however relevant experience in other related industries will be considered.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with experience in customer and stakeholder relations.

  • Ability to apply current knowledge and adapt to latest technology.

  • Ability to function effectively in a team with strong mentoring and influencing skills.

  • Ability to identify, analyse and solve technical problems.

  • Mobility where required, to deliver relevant training away from the base location.

  • Knowledge of training processes and experience of the delivery of high quality technical/practical training.

  • Knowledge of modern learning methods and media and experience of bringing these in the development and delivery of training.

  • Holder of a recognised teaching/training qualification is desirable.

  • Good understanding of the key aspects of nuclear power plant systems and operation is desirable.
