Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced health and safety and staff training manager who is focused and keen that the company offers excellent customer service and a safe working environment.

You will be responsible for Training, Planning, Managing, Monitoring and Reporting on all Staff Training and Health & Safety across the company at all locations.

What are my responsibilities?

  • Train and induct all new staff in all aspects of their role.

  • Ensure all staff are trained in all aspects of food hygiene, manual handling, fire safety and health and safety

  • Engage with all staff and embed a positive Health & Safety Culture with demonstrable benefits.

  • Write, Review, and Assess Risk Assessments.

  • Create and implement Safe Systems of Work.

  • Carry out regular Shop and Bakery audits and produce Action Plans

  • Ensure Company Health & Safety procedures are always implemented and complied with.

  • Ensure all staff certificates are up to date and ongoing retraining is carried out.

  • Ensure shop and bakery management are equipped and capable of the ongoing training of their staff.

  • Be the Point of Contact for all health and safety and training compliance.

  • Investigate all accidents and near misses to identify Root Cause(s) and provide reports to eliminate or reduce risk to as low as reasonably practicable.

  • Liaise with insurance companies and provide accident and incident investigation reports where required.

  • Provide insight to the Directors on Health & Safety & Training compliance issues.

  • Issue uniform requests to stores manager and ensure they are fulfilled and issued to all new staff and replenish existing staff requirements.

    Health & Safety experience in Food industry

  • Qualified in Health & Safety, minimum requirement IOSH qualified.


  • What is required of you?
  • Computer literate intermediate or advanced in Microsoft Office

  • A proven track record of managing the Health & Safety & Training systems for a multi-site business.

  • Hold a full, clean driving licence suitable for use in the UK (essential)

    Dorringtons is an independent family run bakery chain which has been established for over 104 years. Our bakery is in Sawbridgeworth, which supply 16 stores, 6 snack vans and online sales. You will be based at our head office in Sawbridgeworth.

    Competitive salary depending on experience.

  • 5-day week ( Out of hours /weekend will be required to train and audit night bakers and Saturday staff)
