Full Job Description

We have plenty to shout about - Doncaster is the UK's best connected location, we have many major developments in the pipeline, a vibrant urban centre with a thriving arts and cultural scene, sport and leisure attractions, wonderful green spaces and a fascinating heritage. We firmly believe, as do our partners, that Doncaster is the place to be with a bright future and ambitions ahead of it. But don't just take our word for it - anyone joining the council, can look forward to expanding their knowledge and skills in a dynamic, creative and nurturing environment while truly making a difference to the communities we serve.
We are currently recruiting for a Team manager in one of the Help and Protection Teams for Doncaster Children's Services.
This is a pivotal role in supporting the ongoing improvements in practice required to support the service delivered to children and their families in Doncaster. The role requires someone who is experienced in supervising and/or mentoring staff.
As a Team Manager, you will work closely with the other team managers across all of Children's services and advanced practitioners within all locality teams as well as across Doncaster Children's Services as a whole to embed good and outstanding practice for the children and young people who reside in Doncaster.
We are a Help and Protection team that are incredibly supportive and understand the pressures and demands when working in social care. We have regular team meetings, and our aim is to offer our children and families a quality service by ensuring our practice standards are high when completing assessments and interventions for children and young people.
Training is provided for all managers and new members joining the team alongside monthly supervision and Personal Development Plans. We aim to support the Continuing Professional Development of all staff within the Council.
This is what one of our Team Managers says about Doncaster….
I am a Team Manager in the Help and Protection Service, I have worked for Doncaster for over 10 years and been in my current role for the past 7 years.
The team provides statutory services to 0-18 year olds and offers support for children who are either Child in Need, Child Protection or Looked After Children.
Whilst the work is fast paced and can be challenging at times, the caseloads are reasonable and the team is very supportive.
We have team meetings once a week and supervision every 4 weeks, I like to think that I am always available to my team and can usually be found in the office.
The work is varied so never gets staid and there is also lots of opportunity for upskilling; Doncaster has supported me through lots of training / developing and I have completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Management which has helped me to grow and develop.
My team is stable because it is fully staffed with permanent workers, some of who have started as students or ASYE's and remained with the team.
Most of the Help and Protection Teams are located in buildings alongside other services which also facilitates effective partnership working.
As a Team Manager it is essential to work with the team to drive forward good outcomes for the families we work with and to keep the voice of the child at the centre of our work.
We truly work as a team, respecting and valuing each other's skills and strengths. I really enjoy my work in Doncaster and could never imagine working anywhere else. (Tania)
We are looking for Team Managers who are enthusiastic and can drive and nurture performance in a supportive environment whilst being a part of our journey to Good and Outstanding.
The post will be based at The Martinwells Centre, Edlington, Doncaster.

Grade 11 - £50,324 -£52,334 depending on experience for full time post (Pay award pending), Further details about the responsibilities and requirements of the role are contained in the Job description.
In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and access to a range of staff discount and flexible benefits schemes.
