Job description Job title: Sonographer Reports to: Ultrasound Clinical Lead & Operations Manager Place of work: Various across Suffolk Job Purpose The post holder will be an effective member of the ultrasound team, providing the highest standard of ultrasound service to patients in our expanding Non-Obstetric Ultrasound Service, working autonomously in a community setting. The Sonographer will report to the Operations Manager, and in partnership with the Lead Sonographer is responsible for managing all aspects of the ultrasound service, in line with agreed aims and objectives. The sonographer will contribute to optimising the patient pathway, and the efficiency of the service and will drive best practice in overall performance and finance. Main Duties & Responsibilities To assist the Lead Sonographer with the organisation and management of the service. To provide a high standard of work as set by the service as regards the quality of ultrasound examinations. To ensure that the
ultrasound examination of patients is carried out as quickly as possible, consistent with keeping to the standard required and that the patients are sent home with the least possible delay. To assist the other Sonographers in the ultrasound service in maintaining service provision. To ensure any malfunctions are reported. To be responsible at all times for the patients welfare and comfort. To behave always in a professional manner, be smart in appearance and uphold the reputation of the service and company at all times. To adhere to company policies and keep up-to-date with developments in ultrasound, to attend courses and seminars as necessary. To use the computer system and help to develop the system. To respond to and investigate any reports of malfunction of the ultrasound apparatus, accessories, office equipment or computer system. To carry out all measures outlined in the 'Health and Safety' manual for the departments and to bring any new hazards to the attention of the Lead
Sonographer. To work with the Referral Booking Team to provide written communication to the referring GP within 2 days of a patients appointment
