Full Job Description

We're looking for a senior press officer to join our Group communications team and help us to share about all the amazing things we do at Co-op, specifically across our Life Services businesses which includes Co-op Funeralcare, Legal Services and Insurance.

In this role, you'll support in the management and development of a variety of PR campaigns, making sure our products and services get the great media coverage they deserve. We'll also look to you to support on the day-to-day management of our busy press office. What you'll do

  • Help develop and deliver agreed PR plans and campaigns

  • Identify potential news story and media opportunities across Co-op's Life Services businesses

  • Produce innovative and impactful written copy, including press releases, statements, and media briefings

  • Build and maintain a strong network of relevant journalist contacts, and stay up to date with latest industry news and developments

  • Reputational oversight and management of key specific areas including planned and unplanned reputational and crisis management

  • Support in the coordination of activity across the team

    Experience of working in a busy press office function, and managing a range of media enquiries to protect, promote and enhance the brand

  • Experience in working with PR agencies and partners

  • Experience of working to agreed PR budgets

  • Excellent communication and copywriting skills

  • Strong media relations skills and sound knowledge of the media landscape

  • Creativity and the ability to proactively seek out PR opportunities

  • The ability to build meaningful relationships with colleagues, journalists and other external partners
