Full Job Description

This role is a blend of technical lead activities, contributions to project deliveries and, where needed, providing specialist technical support for existing solutions.

You can expect to be involved in any of the following:

  • the design and development of databases, integrations and data migrations

  • contribution to the development and extension of our Data Access Layer product (Cloud-based data storage platform)

  • the evaluation and recommendation of new data, integration and analytic software (both cloud and on-prem)

  • the interpretation of corporate data requirements and user stories, documenting them according to the required standards utilising prescribed methods and tools

  • coordinating and applying data analysis and data modelling techniques based on a detailed understanding of the corporate information requirements

  • planning and managing improvements and the maintenance of databases and data stores to include new releases and upgrades to ensure the best performance for the business.

    A rapid understanding of the underlying issues of complex problems or situations as well as recommending appropriate mitigation.

  • Cross-functional awareness and an understanding of the needs, objectives and constraints of those in other disciplines and functions with IT and the wider business.

  • Planning and organisation skills.

  • An expert with data analysis techniques which help in modelling and understanding a business and its operation.

  • Proficient in application development methods, techniques and standards.

  • Experience with project planning and control techniques.

  • Performance tuning skills and techniques.

  • Experience designing, developing, implementing and supporting a range of business intelligence solutions.

  • Experience designing, developing, implementing and supporting ETL processes to support integrated solutions (including reporting).


  • Technical
  • RDBMS used: Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and above.

  • Cloud: Azure SQL PaaS, Data Factories, Synapse, Stream Analytics, Data Explorer.

  • SQL Server Components: SQL Engine, SSIS and SSRS.

  • Transact-SQL: Complex queries, stored procedures, views and functions.

  • Development Tools: Report Builder and Visual Studio.

  • Source Control: Azure Dev Ops and Team Foundation Server (legacy).

  • Languages: T-SQL, Python, R, some C#

  • Microsoft Office.
