  • Support the data capture, analysis and system performance optimisation for a number of products at the point of Commissioning and customer acceptance testing.

  • Explore methods and techniques to reduce the dose footprint of X-ray imaging systems, maximising performance at lower X-ray doses and reducing the cost of shielding with targeted solutions.

  • Understand, monitor and disseminate in a clear and concise manner the relevant standards for X-ray performance and dose exposure in Cargo and Vehicle imaging.

  • Develop tools and techniques to help anticipate system image performance for future units, analyse X-ray images on current units and establish trends and correlations for various system-level configurations.

  • Develop and maintain analytical models: excel; Matlab; Geant4, to predict detector response to X-ray illumination and replicate X-ray spectral compositions.

  • Work closely with the software team to develop and deliver image enhancement tools and filters into the inspection suite.

  • Support programs and projects to deliver fully compliant X-ray imaging systems at customer acceptance tests, both on site and at customer facilities world-wide.

  • Take responsibility for the design of X-ray based imaging systems for inspection of cargo and vehicles.

  • Undertake system-level design and underlying physics analysis

  • Including:-
  • Top down design of new projects/data capture programs/imaging requirements in support of the tender processes.

  • Bottom up design of new technologies from and imaging basis.

  • Provision of image processing, data analysis and experimental work as required.

  • Build interactions with global departments to encourage pull-through of new R&D.

  • Support wider S&T efforts at other global sites, universities, and external collaborations.

Graduate/Postgraduate experience in radiation physics with experimental background.

  • Experience using excel and Matlab for data analysis.

  • The ability to work with others in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced product development environment.

  • Willingness to support offsite (world wide) programs of work often at short notice and out of normal working hours in the UK.

  • Desirable

  • Experience using C# for desktop application development.

  • Experience using oscilloscopes to examine real-time pulse shape data from radiation detector units.

  • OSI Systems, Inc. has three operating divisions: (a) Security, providing security and inspection systems, turnkey security screening solutions and related services; (b) Healthcare, providing patient monitoring, diagnostic cardiology and anesthesia systems; and (c) Optoelectronics and Manufacturing, providing specialized electronic components and electronic manufacturing services for original equipment manufacturers with applications in the defense, aerospace, medical and industrial markets, among others.
