Full Job Description

Start and finish your day from home with no need to attend our office daily -just for team meetings., Delivery

  • In line with Onwards specification or approved best practice assess, coordinate and undertake the most cost effective repair solution delivering value for money. Organising materials, providing detailed information, effectively communicating with customers, other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high quality service.

  • Ensure an adequate store of materials are available to operatives, including van based stock. Proactively organise workload to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service at all times.


  • Customer Service
  • To provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work of the required standard.


  • Liaison and technical advice
  • Liaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices, and assessment of repairs requirements and progress of repairs


  • Quality
  • Ensure all work is delivered to a high standard


  • Records
  • To complete jobs on PDA's and maintain other records as required including access details, materials used, job progression and follow on information.


  • Health and Safety
  • Undertake work activities in line with all health and safety requirements demonstrating a sound working knowledge of key legislative health and safety information and safe working practices. Assisting the promotion of Health & Safety.

    Sound knowledge of building construction, components, building trades and applicable building regulations.

  • Experience of working in a customer focussed service.

  • Proven ability to deliver a quality customer centred repairs service.

  • Experience of working in a target driven environment.

  • Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, regulation and ACOPS relevant to the post and associated tasks undertaken within it, in line with HASAWA 1974


  • Desirable:
  • Experience of working within a commercial and domestic property maintenance environment.

  • Experience of delivering services within the social housing sector.

  • Experience of using PDA technology (hand held/mobile working technology)., Essential:

  • Minimum of L2 NVQ or equivalent qualification in Plumbing and relevant experience.

  • Appropriate CSCS card.


  • Desirable
  • Hold relevant health & safety qualifications which relate to the sector/construction industry in general.

  • Asbestos awareness training.

  • Relevant power tool training.

  • Manual handling training.

  • Appropriate and current training in COSHH & PPE.

  • Access equipment and working at height training e.g. mobile work platforms.

  • Onward Repairs are Onward Homes in house contractor (DLO) and are one of the largest contractors in the area. We deliver a high-quality flexible service to our customers ensuring our homes remain fit for the future.

    We are recruiting a Plumber to cover repairs across the Greater Manchester area providing all day-to-day repairs and vacant properties repairs, our customers.

    Suitable candidates will be matched to the closest regional patch in Greater Manchester where possible to reduce excessive travel. but candidates may need to cover the a Greater Manchester area at times.

  • £31,800 per annum (£16.52 per hour) with opportunity for additional earnings through participation in our 'out of hours' standby service on a rota basis

  • Multi skilled allowance of up to £750 per annum when accredited as multi skilled in tiling, plastering, or plumbing, subject to conditions.
