Full Job Description

  • To support the delivery of lessons, extra-curricular sport and teaching & learning across PE.

  • To assist with organising and running extra-curricular clubs.

  • To support the PE staff with promoting physical activity and healthy, active lifestyles within lessons and extra-curricular sport.


  • Responsibilities
  • To provide high quality sports coaching during and after school to help raise attainment and improve competitive sport provision

  • Provide support to individuals and groups during lessons to enable them to access the curriculum, whilst monitoring progress and dealing with challenges as they arise

  • Support the development of extra-curricular offers by running sports-based after school clubs

  • Promote an active lifestyle by leading games at lunchtimes, encouraging children to participate

  • Contribute to the implementation of an effective behaviour management strategy

  • Develop positive relationships with parents, carers and families by taking a partnership approach, maintaining and sharing accurate information where appropriate

  • Delivering planned activities to a small group or individual pupils

  • To coordinate the ordering of PE resources and undertake stock checks as required.

  • Provide support for events/fixtures and extracurricular activities.

  • Preparation of equipment for sporting fixtures, including the washing and drying of team kit.

  • Participating in departmental meeting, where and when required.

  • Working with whole school admin team and Marketing Director, prepare letters / emails to parents, other schools and outside agencies.

  • Undertaking safety checks and risk assessments and complying with the requirements of Health and Safety and other relevant legislation and policies., The above responsibilities are subject to the general duties and responsibilities contained in the written statement of conditions of employment (the contract of employment).     You will gain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and a PE Technical Certificate

  • You may also need to work towards Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English, if not acheived.

    Guilsborough Academy is a high performing academy set in rural Northamptonshire. The school was founded in September 1958 as Guilsborough Secondary Modern School and was officially opened in May 1959, the previous school was 'Guilsborough Grammar School' which was originally a boarding school. Many of the buildings on the 28-acre (11 ha) site were built at that time or in the 1970s. During 2020 - 2021 Guilsborough Academy Trust started work on a major investment programme to improve the facilities for students at Guilsborough. Over £2 million has been invested in a new Business, Economic, Psychology and Sociology centre as well as new changing rooms, a fitness suite, a new ICT room and a new Food and Nutrition room.
