Full Job Description

  • To demonstrate effective oversight of driver performance, and continuously ensuring effective management of drivers and their performance is being applied.

  • To be able to liaise and communicate with all aspects of Company Personnel, Engineers, Management, Inspectors, Drivers and external Services such as the Police, Fire Brigade and Ambulance Services.

  • To monitor the efficiency of services operated and ensure that appropriate action is taken to rectify any problems. To manage the dispatch and return of service.

  • To manage the allocation of work to drivers ensuring the efficient application of Company guidelines, to maximise the benefits of work coverage. To ensure Company and legislative regulations are adhered to in respect of the bus service operation e.g. Road Traffic Act.

  • To operate and update the Depot Operations System. To prepare and manage the drivers running boards for the next day. To monitor and control the drivers holiday bookings and change duty systems.

  • To issue information to drivers e.g. wages, counselling, disciplinary or commendation letters. To keep the drivers notice board outside the Traffic office up to date with out of date notices taken down.

  • To be able to record monitor and manage any training issues that you may feel is required for a driver, by communicating with the Training Department on a daily/weekly basis.

  • To operate and maintain computer and paperwork systems in respect of ensuring that accurate input and output of date to defined timescales. To maintain statistics and provide specific reports and adhoc business monitoring reports in accordance with agreed timescales.


  • Person specification needed:
  • Hold a PCV License.

  • Be First Aid, IOSH trained and Fire Warden trained (or willing to obtain)

  • Have a working knowledge of the bus and highway network in the relevant geographical area.
