Full Job Description

We are looking for an Industrial Automation Engineer to join our Engineering Projects team. Reporting to the Engineering Technical Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for design, implementation, and development of industrial automated systems to monitor and control our main production processes across a wide field of technologies. You will work closely with a cross-functional team to improve existing assets and contribute to the development of new and innovative processes.

The responsibilities of the role will include:

· Modifications of PLC/HMI programs & Network configuration to correct issues or improve/optimise site performance.

· Responsible for hands-on analysis, problem-solving, and development of all production processes, methods, and engineering specifications.

· Providing technical documentation for all new installations, FDS', schematics, commissioning etc.

· Work in line with company policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.

· Providing technical support for technicians, including complex problem solving when required.

Ideally, as the successful candidate for this role, you should possess technical skills that can be used to program, maintain, and upgrade PLCs, HMIs, and communication network infrastructure, whilst assisting our maintenance teams and remote plants. Problem-solving and fault finding should be skills you have strongly developed.

Familiarity with Siemens technologies would be beneficial, as well as your understanding of HMI configuration, Ladder Logic programming and fieldbus networks will be valuable in providing technical assistance to our teams. A basic understanding in the use of AutoCAD and project management processes would be beneficial, but training will be provided.

We are seeking a candidate who is HND or Degree qualified with relevant industrial experience. They should be is familiar with motor controllers, PLC programming and HMI development. Possession of strong programming skills are required, with proficiency in languages such as Python, C++ or Delphi would be advantageous. The successful candidate should hold a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, possess strong communication and collaborative skills, and have experience with industrial communication protocols.

The salary for this role will be circa £55,000 depending on relevant experience.

Additionally, you will be given 25 days holiday (plus 8 statutory bank holidays) per year.
