Full Job Description

This is a full-time permanent position working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 10.5 hours per shift in Winter, between 07.45hrs-18:15hrs, then 12.5 hours per shift in Summer. between 07.45hrs-20:15hrs.

You will be working at our Chichester Street HWRC in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

About the role
What will I be doing?

You will be assisting in the daily supervision, operation and maintenance of Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC), you will ensure compliance with waste management permit requirements, contractual obligations, and prevailing legislation and Company policies.

The role involves:

+ Providing excellent levels of customer service, you will advise and assist members of the public on how to use the site in order to maximise recovery of materials they are depositing.
+ Maintaining accurate records for the removal of materials from the site.
+ Controlling the exchange of containers by booking loads with the relevant person thus ensuring the site always has space to segregate and store material correctly.
+ Maintaining a tidy site within his/her areas of responsibility.
+ Ensuring SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees and of other people who may be affected by his/her actions or omissions.
+ Co-operating with SUEZ and with other employees in order to comply with the site permit, comply with all applicable legislation, and SUEZ Policies and Procedures.
+ Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role.

+ Supervisory or team leader experience.
+ HWRC Operations and knowledge of materials, both hazardous and non-hazardous.
+ Knowledge of environmental permits, working plans, emergency procedures, company health and safety policies, duty of rare regulations and COSHH
+ Communication skills, both written and oral.
+ Excellent leadership skills.
+ Basic financial awareness.
+ Assertive training techniques to deal with difficult customers.
+ Plan and progress tasks using own initiative.
+ Motivate public and staff to recycle.
+ Working in adverse weather conditions.
+ Literacy, numeracy and clerical skills.
+ A good level of customer service and teamwork approach.
+ Full drivers' licence and vehicle.
+ Ideally some prior mobile plant use is desirable but full training will be given.
