Full Job Description
As a Housing Solicitor, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clients through a range of housing issues, ensuring they receive the justice and support they deserve.
The Housing Solicitor plays a pivotal role within CEL by embodying and advancing our core values.
Responsibilities
Client Representation: Provide high-quality legal representation to clients in a wide range of housing matters, including but not limited to housing disrepair claims, tenancy deposit, landlord and tenant disputes, unlawful eviction cases, and other housing issues.
Legal Advisory: Offer expert legal advice and guidance to clients, explaining complex legal concepts in an easily understandable manner. Ensure clients are aware of their rights, responsibilities, and available legal options.
Case Management: Manage a caseload of housing cases efficiently and effectively, adhering to deadlines, court appearances, and administrative duties related to each case.
Legal Research: Conduct comprehensive legal research to stay updated with housing laws, regulations, and precedents. Apply legal knowledge to build strong cases for clients and adapt to changes in the legal landscape.
Negotiation and Mediation: Engage in negotiations and mediations to settle disputes and achieve favourable outcomes for clients whenever possible, avoiding unnecessary litigation.
Court Representation: Represent clients in court proceedings confidently, presenting legal arguments persuasively, and advocating for clients' interests.
Client Care: Demonstrate excellent client care skills, maintaining open communication and providing regular updates to clients throughout the legal process.
Business Development: Contribute to business development initiatives, including networking, marketing, and building professional relationships to expand the firm's housing law practice.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards, maintaining the highest ethical standards and safeguarding client confidentiality.
Qualified Solicitor: Possess a valid practicing certificate as a solicitor in England and Wales.
Experience: Demonstrated experience working in housing law, with a strong track record of handling diverse housing cases effectively.
Expertise: In-depth knowledge of housing legislation, regulations, and case law relevant to England and Wales.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate legal matters clearly to clients from different backgrounds.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and the capacity to analyse complex legal issues.
Court Advocacy: Proven experience in representing clients in court, with confident advocacy skills.
Client-Focused: A client-centric approach with a commitment to providing exceptional service and achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
Team Player: Collaborative and able to work effectively within a team, supporting colleagues when necessary.
