Full Job Description

Overall responsibility for the leadership of HSE, working with our existing team, reporting to the Managing Director, ensuring the efficient implementation of HSE processes to meet the demands of both clients and certifying bodies whilst driving improvement. The role will encompass four manufacturing workshops in the Widnes area and an oil refinery at Ellesmere Port.

Key Objectives of the Role :

  • Overall responsibility for implementing, maintaining and improving all health, safety and environmental requirements of the business

  • Conduct inspections, surveillance and audits to ensure compliance with legislative and system requirements.

  • Monitor the business management system identifying any occurrences of non-conformance and ensure that corrective actions are taken.

  • Undertake investigations of any incidents, provide training to employees and carry out toolbox talks to promote a strong Health & Safety culture throughout the business.

  • Monitor performance KPI systems to assess and improve the company performance.

  • Liaise with all business areas to ensure client and business needs are achieved.


  • Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities :
  • To maintain the Health & Safety and Environmental manuals and ensure they're compliant with the standards and meet all statutory requirements.

  • To implement the policies and aims and objectives of senior management.

  • To ensure all areas of the business are internally audited to maintain compliance.

  • To monitor and investigate all accidents, incidents, property damage and environmental incidents and ensure they are fully documented.

  • To ensure sufficient records, documents and audits are kept to prove compliance with the standards, statutory requirements and to enable performance of the business to be benchmarked and measured against the aims and objectives.

  • To arrange management review meetings and ensure sufficient information is provided to senior management to show progress towards all policy aims and objectives.

  • To ensure the correct training is provided to all levels of the business to enable all policy aims and objectives are met.

  • To provide a central point of contact and lead in all areas of health, safety and environment.

  • To communicate the policies to all applicable parties.

  • To provide a point of contact and information for all regulatory authorities when required.
