Full Job Description

We are recruiting for a furniture assistant shop manager for our new shop in Swindon. Are you passionate about charity retail, and have an eye for vintage and antiques? This is a great opportunity to use your skills to make a real difference to your local community?
At Prospect Hospice, we provide vital end of life care to patients living with a life limiting illness. We also support their families and loved ones through their difficult journeys. Our shops are at the heart of the charity and our community, raising vital funds and increasing public awareness of the incredible work we do.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (five days a week, which will include working weekends and some bank holidays)

What is the role?
We proudly have 16 shops in Swindon, Marlborough and Pewsey. Each shop has a manager and assistant shop manager supported by a team of volunteers.
As the assistant shop manager you will work alongside and support the shop manager to achieve agreed sales targets to maximise income and provide an outstanding customer experience for the local community. You will be critical in ensuring the shop meet its sales targets by continuing to achieve high standards of customer service, fantastic creative visual merchandising and ensuring the smooth-running of day-to-day activities. The role requires the moving and handling of inconsistent loads and weights.
You will also work collaboratively and engage with the community to build a team of volunteers, attract desirable donations and make the shop a destination. The assistant shop manager will have full responsibility for the furniture shop in the absence of the shop manager and positively promote and support the aims and values of the hospice.
There is an expectation that the assistant shop manager will cover the shop in the absence of the shop manager.
In return, you will be joining a great team working in a supportive and collaborative environment for one of Swindon's best loved charities. We work in an open and transparent way and encourage staff, volunteers, patients and families to raise any safeguarding concerns.
