We have an opportunity to join DAS UK Group as a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager. Reporting to the Head of Business Controlling and Reporting, this is an opportunity for an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified candidate with significant PQE to join a leading insurance and legal services provider.

As FP&A manager you will be responsible for planning & forecasting, performance analysis, models and monitoring, and management information for DAS LEI (Legal Expenses Insurance). You can expect to deliver all commercial financial analysis to interpret business results and performance, providing the necessary financial insight and commentaries and ensuring appropriate forecasting as well as value driver analysis.

This role is unique in that you will also have the opportunity to act as the finance business controller, providing great exposure to senior stakeholders in the business, monitoring the business performance and providing support and challenge to the respective Executive Management team members, working closely with underwriting and claims, and collaborating with other business controllers to provide decision support capabilities to DAS LEI.

In addition, you can expect to:

  • Develop three-to-five-year corporate plan (UK GAAP and HGB) with supporting budgeting and forecasting.

  • Turn data into accurate, readable, and relevant operational financial information and management information (UK GAAP and HGB), delivered in a timely way to stakeholders across Insurance in order to support business decision making.

  • Manage performance of team members, identifying and communicating strengths and development opportunities

  • Manage performance against financial forecasts, in such a way that drives accountability and ownership across the business.

  • Business partner with Client Services, collaborating closely with the director and act as point of contact/ go to person for business requirements.

  • Analyse performance of business lines, and challenge business on its operational efficiency.

  • Ensure key internal and external deliverables are executed and shared with the group.

  • Develop Transaction Committee packs and provide in depth analysis for strategic opportunities. Challenge and critically assess the assumptions to ensure independent review.

  • Cross-train with other roles providing support to the wider BC&R team as well as managing a member of staff.

  • Develop and maintain an effective approach to risk management and controls.

    We are looking for someone who is a self-starter with the ability to effectively manage their own time and workload. This role would suit someone who has demonstrable prior experience of FP&A and who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in a commercial or capital/regulatory role in the insurance sector with insurance accounting knowledge;

  • Insurance industry experience to ensure insightful analysis, understanding of profit drivers and the general insurance market;

  • Deep knowledge of accounting and performance management;

  • In-depth knowledge of applicable accounting standards (UK GAAP & HGB) desirable;

  • Knowledge and experience using technical programs including Power BI is desirable;

  • Team management and performance improvement experience.
