Fleet Manager

As a Fleet Manager at Natural Stone Surfaces, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our transportation fleet to ensure efficient and effective operations. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of our logistics network by managing vehicle maintenance and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and have a deep understanding of standard national operator licence requirements along with fleet management practices., Fleet Operations Management:

· Use Tachometers to maintain and monitor driver hours against the working time directive,

· Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet efficiency and reduce operational costs,

· Track fleet performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.

Vehicle Maintenance and Repair:

· Oversee regular maintenance schedules for all vehicles in the fleet,

· Coordinate with maintenance technicians and external service providers to ensure timely repairs,

· Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.

Driver Management:

· Induct new starters including any agency drivers,

· Train, and supervise a team of drivers to maintain high standards of professionalism and safety,

· Provide Toolbox talks to groups as required to ensure a full understanding of requirements,

· Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to drivers,

· Address driver concerns and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Regulatory Compliance:

· Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, including DOT regulations and vehicle safety standards,

· Maintain accurate records of driver hours, vehicle inspections, and maintenance activities,

· Stay informed about changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.

Budget Management:

· Develop and manage the fleet budget, including expenses related to maintenance, and repairs,

· Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

· In-depth knowledge of operator licence regulations and safety standards

is essential,

· A full understanding of driver hours and working time directive requirements is ideal,

· Proven experience in fleet management or a similar role, with at least 2 years of experience in a similar position,

· Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage a project,

· Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities,

· Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,

· Full UK driving licence with flexibility to work between various sites.

This role will initially support the holder of a transport manager CPC allowing progression into the transport management role., Full, UK driving licence and ability to travel to other UK sites as required.,
