Full Job Description

The Finance Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations related to Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Cash Management. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of Rapid's financial transactions, effective cash flow management, and continued improvement to financial policies and controls. The Finance Operations Manager will assist the Finance Director in overseeing the Operational teams and collaborate with various departments to support the company's financial health and operational efficiency

Key Accountability

The role is responsible for various financial functions and ensuring that financial operations run smoothly, efficiently, and ethically. Taking into account functional targets, financial parameters, quality standards and resource requirements, considering both the current and longer-term requirements of the business.

Responsibilities:

People Management

  • Deliver excellent results through effective leadership of team.

  • By having excellent knowledge of the Finance landscape, Rapid Strategy and Company Values, influences thinking and actions within organisational areas at both operational and strategic levels.

  • Responsible for the overall management of the people within the team, monitoring team trends, supporting and coaching others by being consistent, devolving responsibility and developing trust.

  • Supports and drives performance management, by informing all teams of agreed processes and plans, to ensure that all team members are consistently achieving the required targets and performance, and are being developed in all areas of the department.

  • Creates a learning culture, where employees feel empowered to do the best work they can, and looks to ensure that a succession plan is shaped for the team.

  • Responsible for promoting employee welfare and performance within the team, supporting colleagues in their roles, and carrying out employee relations meetings as required.

  • To provide on the job and planned staff training including the induction of new staff.

  • To motivate the teams to deliver a high standard of work and output.

  • To lead by example with the ability to perform the duty of team members.

  • To always optimise the use of the finance team and ensure that both planned and unplanned absences are covered by redeployment of cross trained resources within the team.


  • Accounts Payable Management:
  • Supervise the AP function to ensure timely and accurate processing of Stock and overhead invoices, AP queries, expense reports, and adequate AP reporting to support departmental KPIs

  • Maintain and enforce AP policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist the business in managing supplier relationships and resolve any discrepancies or issues.

  • Monitor AP aging reports and implement strategies to optimise payment cycles and cash flow inline with Cash Management requirements.


  • Credit and Debtor Management:
  • Supervise the Credit and Debtor Control function to ensure timely and accurate customer collections.

  • Assist, develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce outstanding receivables.

  • Monitor the performance of Credit Facilities and collaborate with Sales to seek opportunity and minimise risk

  • Monitor AR aging reports and coordinate collection efforts to minimise bad debt and improve cash flow.

  • Maintain strong customer relationships, addressing any billing or payment inquiries promptly. Ensures Rapid complies with financial laws and regulations.


  • Cash Management:
  • Oversee daily cash flow management, including monitoring bank balances, preparing cash flow forecasts, and ensuring adequate liquidity.

  • Manage cash payments and receipts, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation of transactions.

  • Develop and maintain cash management policies and procedures to optimise the company's cash position.

  • Assist in seeking funding opportunities and the growth of cash to fund future operational developments.


  • Payroll
  • Partner with HR to manage the payroll operations ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee wages, salaries, and benefits.

  • Ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulations, including tax filings and reporting requirements.

  • Partner with HR to maintain payroll records and manage the resolution of any payroll discrepancies or issues.


  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare and review financial reports related to AP, AR, and cash management, providing insights and recommendations to the FD

  • Conduct regular analysis of working capital, cash flow, and other KPIs to support strategic decision-making.

  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing activities for AP, AR, and cash accounts..


  • Compliance and Internal Controls:
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and external regulations related to AP, AR, Cash management and Payroll.

  • Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing appropriate controls and procedures.


  • Communication:
  • Ensures clear and effective communication with senior management, stakeholders, and other departments regarding financial matters.

  • To attend and positively contribute to meetings as required.

    Several years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles, demonstrating a deep understanding of financial principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of financial laws and regulations and experience in ensuring compliance with them.

  • The ability to lead and manage a team effectively, set performance goals, and provide guidance to team members

  • Being able to identify financial issues and develop creative solutions to address them.

  • Able to analyse financial data, interpret trends, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey financial information clearly to various stakeholders.

  • Confident and proactive in learning and adapting to new operational systems.

  • Strong verbal and numerical reasoning skills

  • Ability to handle large volumes of transactions

  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-tasks and prioritise tasks with strict deadlines

  • Understand the needs of the business along with the flexibility to change according to requirements
