Full Job Description

Endeavour to maintain and develop the Roman Catholic character of the school in accordance with the directions given by the School Governors and subject thereto to those given by the Headteacher.

Provide an education for the whole child and fostering in and through a Catholic atmosphere those qualities which will enable each individual to live happily and develop fully his or her intellectual, moral, physical, social, emotional and spiritual qualities.

1. To support pupils in their learning, within and outside of the classroom in order for them to make good progress.

2. To provide targeted support to develop independence and overcome potential barriers to learning.

3. To complete the approved accreditation in conjunction with our Training Provider using work experience gained within the role to support this.

4. Establish rapport and respectful, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations. To develop an understanding of the needs of students and to use this knowledge to support their learning in the classroom.

5. To develop an understanding of specific support strategies and implement these to best effect at all times in order to remove barriers to learning for SEND pupils.

6. Supervise and support pupils to undertake agreed learning activities / programmes linked to local and national curriculum and learning strategies, e.g. literacy, numeracy

7. Adjusting activities according to pupil responses and needs, including for those with special educational needs and social emotional needs.

8. The role may include supporting pupils' social needs. The pupil may also need assistance to access different areas of the school. To administer basic first aid and/or medication as required.

9. Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils by encouraging them to interact with each other and to engage in activities led by the teacher. Deliver interventions to support the development of social and emotional needs.

10. Support the effective use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils' competence and independence in its use.

11. Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans and Behaviour Plans.

12. Provide feedback to pupils on their progress and achievement under the guidance of a teacher, in line with school policy.

13. To support the college in ensuring examination access arrangements are in place for relevant pupils by acting as reader and/or scribe.

14. To engage in internal or external CPD as directed by HLTA/Learning Support Manager/SENCO.

15. Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out-of-school activities as required and take responsibility for a group under the supervision of a teacher.

16. To maintain confidentiality on all college related matters.

17. Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts in line with school behaviour policies.

18. Establish constructive relationships with parents and carers, promoting the School's home/school liaison policy.

19. Assist the teacher with the preparation of teaching and learning materials and resources.

20. Provide detailed feedback to teachers on pupils' achievement, progress, problems etc. as requested.

21. Undertake pupil record keeping as requested, and assist with the collation of pupil reports as requested by the teacher, which may involve data inputting.

22. Administer and mark straightforward routine tests and invigilate tests as required.

23. Provide clerical support for teachers, e.g. photocopying, filing, collecting money, checking deliveries and placing goods in stock and maintaining records of stock, administering coursework, production of work sheets for agreed activities.

We are looking to appoint to join our team to provide valuable, practical assistance to class teachers in both the classroom and supporting pupils at lunchtime. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels. We are looking for a reliable, flexible individual who has a passion working in school., Any successful apprenticeship who demonstrates the ability and necessary skills to carry out the role of a L3 TA to a high standard, would be considered for any permanent vacancy that may arise in the school.
