Position: Volunteer & Activities Development Officer

Organisation: Aldeburgh Museum

Location: Aldeburgh, Suffolk

Closing date:  5pm on 24th September 2018

Job Type: Temporary contract for 34 month period ideally between September 2018 and June 2021

Salary: The post is 0.5 FTE with hours and annual leave pro rata. Salary: £27,000 pro rata (£13,500 0.5 FTE)

The Aldeburgh Moot Hall Museum Regeneration project is a three-year project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to redisplay and interpret the museums collections and the history and heritage of Aldeburgh.  The Moot Hall is also home to Aldeburgh Town Council and the project will provide a Council Chamber fit for the 21st century.  New exhibitions and interactive displays will be complemented by a programme of activities and events to engage local people, tourists, and schools by inspiring active engagement in the heritage. A key element of the project is to develop the volunteer capacity of the Museum Trust supporting future sustainability and project legacy.

Aldeburgh Museum is advertising this Volunteer & Activities Development Officer post with a view to the job commencing in September 2018 or soon after. The role is for the delivery phase which is expected to run part-time from then until June 2021.

The Volunteer & Activities Development Officer will have overall responsibility for delivering the activity plan for the project including volunteering, community engagement, and learning. More specifically, the post holder will:

  • work with and support Trustees and current volunteers deliver the regeneration project
  • where appropriate, recruit, train and coordinate volunteers
  • develop community networks and partnerships
  • establish a Teacher Advisory Group to support work with schools
  • develop and deliver a programme of community activities and events
  • actively undertake project monitoring and evaluation and provide reports on progress
