Trainee Reporter Ham & High, Newington Green  

We are looking for a trainee reporter to work on the Ham & High newspaper and news website, and as part of a team that also puts out the Islington Gazette, Hackney Gazette and Brent & Kilburn Times.  

The successful candidate will hold an NCTJ diploma, have excellent writing skills, be able to bring in exclusive stories in a busy and diverse news patch, and have the ability and talent to provide outstanding multimedia content for our newspapers and online.  

Candidates will combine sound news judgement and multimedia awareness to build on our reputation for insightful and informative community journalism.  

We would like to recruit an individual who fully understands, and is keen to reflect, the needs of our north London communities and audiences. 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:  

    • Level 3 NCTJ diploma in journalism is ideal  
    • Relevant journalism degree without NCTJ qualification an option  
    • Ability to produce sparkling copy for our newspapers and websites  
    • Good knowledge of the local area (North London)  
    • Strong digital audience awareness for content  
    • Ability to produce video and picture content  
    • Excellent news judgement  
    • Ideas for print and digital platforms  
    • Full valid driving licence  

 

SALARY & BENEFITS
