Technician - Science based at Paston College

30 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

£13,646 - £14,649 per annum

City College Norwich is currently recruiting for a part time Technician to join its highly skilled team supporting learning across the institution and its multiple campuses.  The specific curriculum area where support is required within the Science Department at Paston College, with focus on supporting learning across all science disciplines.

Working in this are you would need knowledge of the following aspects of a technicians work:

  • Assembling apparatus
  • Preparing and conducting trials of practical activities
  • Preparing chemical solutions and slides
  • Stocktaking chemicals and equipment
  • Checking and maintaining lab equipment and apparatus
  • Sub-culturing bacteria
  • Correct disposal of waste materials
  • Assessing and completing Risk Assessments and COSHH assessments.
  • Delivery of complex practical work such as AMGEN experiments

You will work closely with exceptional lecturers and will support staff from several courses within the college. You will be line managed by one of our two Technician Team Leaders, who look after Technicians and Technical Supervisors that work across a wide range of curriculum including Science, Sport & Leisure, Health & Care, Hair & Beauty, Hospitality & Catering, the Arts, Engineering, and Construction.  You may be involved in exciting projects on campus, county-wide or nationally, and there will be opportunities for the right candidate to develop their skills.
