Specialist Staff for Highly Specialist Provision

Due to popular demand our student numbers are increasing from September 2017 onwards, so we are seeking positive, hardworking, diligent and trustworthy people that will help us make a difference for the life outcomes of young people, all of whom have complex and severe learning conditions and disabilities.

We are especially looking for keen, enthusiastic people with a zest for life, interested in extending their current skills and knowledge and who want to become experts in our sector. People who can adapt their current knowledge/ skills/interests/training to a new special context.

We are improving upon our rich offer for our high need students and we want people who can willingly bring themselves to the party. We have some incredibly creative and wonderful staff and want them to have flexible intelligent colleagues to enhance the life chances of all our community.

We are a Specialist Academy serving secondary students aged 11-25 years with severe and profound learning disabilities. physical disabilities and/or complex medical needs, and many have severe autism or a mixture of these barriers to learning. That's why we need specialist staff, prepared to learn and understand how to unlock their potential to enrich and enhance their lives and their outcomes. Our students are highly motivated to learn and deserve staff who are self-motivated and interested in helping them achieve exceptional outcomes and prepare effectively for a tough and difficult adult life without as much support as they will get from us.

We are seeking people who can become or are already Higher Level Teaching Assistants/NNEB's to Instruct/ lecture/supervise and support students and staff. The successful candidates will need resilience, emotional maturity and a genuine passion for helping young people and adults. Perhaps most important of all, is that you share our collaborative approach where meeting the students' needs very well, are at the heart of what we are here for.

Applicants should ideally meet HLTA/NNEB/degree standards or have equivalent qualifications or experience. All employees are required to support all aspects of care and take responsibility. We are happy to welcome back teachers into teaching too, and those considering teaching as a career pathway with us, which we would support.

Applicants must be fit and proper persons, fully authorised to work around young people and vulnerable adults, meet current and future safeguarding regulations. Applicants ideally should hold a full current driving licence and be prepared to support young people access the community via our fleet transport of cars, or minibus's using the community for swimming, sports and other activities (Training will be provided).

The post will require two employer references available before interview and full DBS and record checking including a medical before employment would begin.

Pay scale offered to successful candidates will depend upon previous skills, knowledge and experience and will initially range from £10.09 - £13.43 an hour gross pay.

For experienced or exceptional candidates, we will be prepared to offer more than these rates, dependent upon current or previous posts held or specialist knowledge skills/training.
