Brilliant outcomes through integrated health, housing and care. Thats when it hits home.

We have fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who all have learning disabilities or autism. Here in Lowestoft, we are setting up a new team to look after customers who will be with us for up to 2 years within a community setting. We support them towards independent living with things like cooking cleaning, tenancy and budgeting, as well as finding their future properties. We also have an emergency respite bed here, where we offer short term support to a customer in need.

We also have a team in Ipswich where we support our brilliant customers for up to 12 weeks, when they are in crisis and we do this within our registered respite home and out on the community.

Theres lots to do, from developing bespoke support plans for every customers needs, partnering with local agencies to promote health, wellbeing and working closely with our Senior Support Workers to assess and engage support.  So you may be helping with personal care in the morning and supporting with meal planning in the afternoon.  The next day you might be off to the seaside together for fish and chips!

So if you are a ninja at working with people who might engage in behaviours of concern, able to identify safeguarding issues and love to be busy every day then this is the job for you!  Youll constantly learn new things and be stretched professionally, emotionally and practically; your learning will be immense.

And you wont be on your own, were a big team who deliver excellent person centered support, so youre going to be part of our awesome Home Group Family!

About our team

Youll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting our customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team were a work family. Our manager is Hannah and she has worked for Home Group for 6 months now, she knows what its like to be a newby here!  There are 16 of us in the wider team, Hannah and our deputy manager Amy, 5 coordinators, as well as our support colleagues. We not just there for our customers, were there for each other too! Our team have only been together a short while, but weve really bonded! We know that the tough job we do is so worthwhile, and thats what helps to keep our smiles and enthusiasm going throughout the day!

A bit about you

Youll be super energised, with a positive can do attitude and buzzing to help us build this flag ship service. Your empathy and creative spark will really shine through as will your ability to empower customers to reach their full potential.  Youll bring the skin of a Rhino and the heart of a Lion, which does not take away from the caring nature you display towards your colleagues and customers. Youll have a practical understanding of safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality and support plans as well as the ability to empower customers from all different backgrounds.  If you have previous experience of working with a similar customer group this is awesome, if not, dont worry as well support you to develop your skills.

Youll ideally hold the Care Certificate/Level 2 in Health and Social Care, but if you dont, well support you to achieve this (and pay for it!).

This is an excellent opportunity if youre looking for the next challenge. Youll be trained within an inch of your life (so dont worry about that) to gain a true understanding of our systems and to capture all the excellent outcomes we are going to achieve.

Working Hours & Travel

We support our amazing customers 24/7, and were recruiting for day workers and night workers. Our day workers work days, evenings and weekends, but also get called on very occasionally to cover night shifts or sleep ins. As a Night worker, youll join us on days when we get together for team meetings and training and for your initial induction period (we think at least a few weeks!).

As youll be part of a wider team who cover Suffolk, you may be called on to travel during your shift, so you can spend time with your customers. You could do that using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car (insured for business purposes) that would also be amazing! (We pay your expenses to cover this use!)

If youre successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which well pay for.
