Fixed term contract until 31st March 2019

Are you a driven and compassionate individual with excellent people skills? Do you have the skills and commitment to undertake a role thats diverse and fast-paced? Then join St Giles Trust as an SOS Caseworker and you will be embarking on a highly rewarding and career-enhancing position.

About us

An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need. Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others.

This exciting opportunity is based within SOS, our trailblazing ex-offender-led project that works across the country in areas affected by London gangs. Here, our staff work with both victims and perpetrators of serious youth violence and other gang-related offences and help them to be safe, to move away from offending, and make positive choices.

About these roles

We are currently recruiting for SOS Caseworkers and Senior Caseworkers. Some positions will involve Outreach work. Our successful candidates will provide vital support service to young people who are at risk of involvement in serious youth violence or gang-related activity, including their families who have a connection to the boroughs service provision. This will see you use your experience to assess referred clients, with reference to St Giles Trust assessment practices, and produce support plans and risk management plans based on assessments.

You will also promote inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process, and develop and maintain relationships with both referral and agencies, ensuring a steady flow of appropriate referrals onto the scheme. Closing cases efficiently and positively, plus assisting with providing monitoring information and the evaluation of the project, are also key components of this role.

To secure this great opportunity:

  • You must have a proven track record of engaging positively with young offenders or other vulnerable groups, plus providing support, advocacy and the ability to assess clients needs
  • Possess strong IT skills, including proven experience of using MS Office in a similar work environment
  • Have experience in negotiating with partner agencies to establish links to further the aims of a project
  • You will be an excellent communicator with impressive interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • You will have an understanding of and support for the employment of people with lived experience in support roles, and/or had personal experience of using support services.

In return you can expect a competitive salary and generous leave allowance; staff pension scheme, flexible working, a mentoring programme, an advice & counselling service, season ticket loan and much more besides.
