Site Fitter Supervisor
Location: Bury St Edmunds
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000

Site Fitter Supervisor- Quality Equipment are a family run agricultural engineering business which has been running for over 50 years.  We have provided a comprehensive range of new and innovative products and buildings specifically designed to meet the on-going needs of modern pig farmers.  We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Fitter Supervisor to join our expanding business based in Woolpit, Suffolk.

As a Site Fitter Supervisor You will be responsible for overseeing the installation of a range of fittings and equipment into agricultural buildings including livestock penning, ventilation systems, feed systems and plumbing and drinking systems and will also undertake general light construction duties.  You will be reporting to the Construction Manager your duties will include:

  • Meet any targets or deadlines set through effective planning, prioritisation and management of workloads.
  • Attend and contribute to construction planning meetings.
  • Allocate workload and conduct risk assessments to meet deadlines, remaining flexible to adjust plans as required.
  • Oversee fitting installations to ensure a quality finish and on time.
  • Reading layout drawings as per installation requirement.
  • Supervise site fitter operatives / contracted staff.  Ensure fitter operatives are inducted, trained and equipped to carry out their roles including specific task training.
  • Check all drawings, work requests and specifications to ensure they are accurate and report any discrepancy to the Construction Manager.
  • Ensure materials required to complete jobs are ordered and delivered on time.
  • Ensure consumables e.g. PPE to complete jobs are ordered and delivered on time.
  • Maintain accurate and concise daily records to provide an audit trail including site registers, key activities, variation to contracts, inspections of plant & machinery and logging of materials onto site.
  • Liaise with managers and staff within the company to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Create a positive and harmonious working environment where all operatives are valued, feel part of a team and respect each other.
  • Maintain effective relationships with clients, providing regular updates on the progress of works.
  • Provide regular updates to the Construction Manager on the progress of works and performance of individuals.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Previous experience is desirable in a similar role
  • Knowledge of the building or construction industries.
  • Experience of reviewing projects and plan drawings to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
  • Ability to produce schedules of costs incurred on projects and providing analysis and reports.
  • Maintains a good understanding of Health & Safety within the construction industry and associated record keeping.
  • Good numeracy and computer skills
  • Good communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and work well under pressure and meet deadlines
