The Broads is an internationally important and protected wetland environment with status equivalent to a national park. Our Planning Department is a small friendly team focused on delivering sustainable development whilst protecting the special qualities of the area and with a good service record. We have created a new Senior Planner post and the post holder will have responsibility for managing the development management team as well as handling some of the more complex planning applications.

We are looking for an experienced planner who is able to handle more complex planning applications and pre-application enquiries, provide professional guidance on planning appeals and input into the development of planning policy. Applicants must have a recognised qualification in Town Planning and experience of presenting to
Committees and the public. Applicants should also have experience of management and of supporting and mentoring junior staff.

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a customer-focused approach. Practical experience in the use of databases and excellent time management, interpersonal and negotiation skills are also key requirements.
