We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Engineering team at GSK Worthing working within our Sterile Manufacturing area. In this role you will play a key part in supporting the delivery of the Engineering strategy by interacting with all functions across site.

What will the role look like?

You will provide leadership to the Steriles Operational Engineering Trade Team and production engineers, within the defined area in order to maximise equipment availability (through planned / corrective maintenance and continuous improvement activities) and provide expert level of technical support to the production area, while ensuring compliance with all Quality & EHS requirements and ensuring effective cost control.

You will be the single point of contact for Operational Engineering within the defined area. A key aspect of this role is in the support to develop and execute a defined strategy, focusing on culture change, behavioural improvements and the development of engineering competence while also driving plant, equipment & engineering service improvements within a GPS & Operational Performance framework.

Day to Day Responsibilities will include:

• Support in the development and execution of the area strategy, incorporating culture, behaviours, competence and continuous improvement.
• Lead engineering trades activities for defined team / shift and production engineer(s) within the production value stream.
• Co-ordinate maintenance requirements and ensure cost effective & comprehensive maintenance plans are in place and tracked.
• Provide engineering leadership and mentorship to the engineering trade team and production engineer(s).
• Support in identifying knowledge gaps and develop/identify training programmes to ensure that engineering capability is developed within the department.
• Accountable for driving rapid and effective breakdown response within the defined area in the value stream
• Drive improvements in standards and compliance with area of accountability with respect to local regulation, GSK standards and industry best practice in the field of sterile engineering and related topics.
• Resource management, and performance tracking within own team.
• Lead / manage minor projects as directed by the operational engineering Manager
• Accountable for team's full compliance with EHS, Quality, and DI requirements.
• Deputise for the Operational Engineering Manager

About you:

You will have an Engineering background and will need to be able to understand processes and to provide solutions to problems. This is a functional expert role expected to apply broad and deep practical experience of engineering knowledge in the production operations and projects. You will apply expertise to ensure that daily activities are performed efficiently and compliantly to the required standards.

You will also need to have effective management and interaction with multi-disciplinary teams. You will also need a sound competency of Good Engineering Practice and possess strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels. You will need to be able to make decisions, prioritize and delegate, as well as possess a sound fault finding approach, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to maintain calm under pressure, desire to improve systems and processes and good influencing skills.

Why You?Basic qualifications:
You will possess an Engineering degree in mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering, in addition you will also be able to demonstrate:

• Experience working in an engineering maintenance department.
• Experience leading a team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organisation and interact/influence effectively at all levels of management and peers.
• Good understanding of a Quality Management System.
• Strong leadership approach, acts with integrity, an ambassador for Engineering.
• Sound competence in key computer packages.

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience in culture and behavioural change approaches
• Running of reliability maintenance programmes.
• Experience of engineering in aseptic (specific to the Steriles Senior Engineering Team Leader) production and support processes.
• Working knowledge and understanding of regulatory/ quality/ validation standards and practices for aseptic processes (specific to the Steriles Senior Engineering Team Leader).
• Qualified ECW (Engineer controlling the work)
• Lean manufacturing experience
• IOSH, NEBOSH certification.
• Reliability/maintenance certification
• Management certification
