Residential Childrens Care Worker Specialist Education Services are an organisation providing highly specialised integrated therapeutic residential care and education for young people. We are now looking for Residential Childrens Care Workers to join our team at Avocet House, in Heckingham close to Loddon, Norfolk, on a full time permanent basis.

General Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the care and leisure time activities of children under the supervision and guidance of a Personal Tutor or Link Tutor.
  • To maintain clear, effective and impartial communication between education and care staff, and the senior management team.
  • To monitor objectively the quality of relationships between children, between staff and children, and between staff, with the constant aim of improvement.
  • To maintain good practice, be informed on current practice, and in liaison with the Registered Manager, implement changes in accordance with developments in the residential social work field.
  • To liaise with staff of all disciplines as necessary to promote co-operation within the home and ensure minimum disruption to the smooth running of the establishment.
  • To be conversant with and adhere to all procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • To sleep-in as per rota.
  • To perform any other tasks that the Registered Manager or their appointed Deputy may reasonably request.

Person Specification:

  • Ability to create a good impression with children
  • English language or literacy qualification at Level 1
  • Holds a full current driving licence. 

You dont need to have any care qualifications to apply for residential care worker positions, you just need to have what it takes. Staff are required to complete a Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare within two years of employment.

Many of our care team have started their career in residential care with us, achieving promotion within our structures.

This is a Full Time, Permanent position with a salary on offer of £17,007 to £18,672 depending on experience. This position involves working shifts. The working week is calculated over a complete shift pattern and is then averaged out.  It will be a minimum of 37 hours per week. Due to the nature of the role you will be required to have your own transport.  We have two homes within 3.5 miles of each other, providing great opportunities for shared professional development. Onsite parking is available.
