Project / Programme Manager

We are looking for a Project/Programme Manager accustomed to leading teams in a matrix structure to achieve project deliverables on end-to-end projects to time, cost and quality KPIs.

Based in Norwich, MSI Defence Systems is a world leader in defence technology, supplying weaponry to the Royal Navy and 40 navies globally. This newly created role is central to the success of programmes acting as the single point of contact with the customer and other key stakeholders. You will be accountable for establishing and maintaining a Project Plan, and for identifying and managing the critical path. Your responsibilities will include;

  • Maintaining a single point of contact with the customer and other key stakeholders within your project(s)
  • Lead and manage the internal team to implement, monitor and control the project from inception through to completion
  • Establish and maintain an overall Project Plan/Schedule, clearly identifying and managing the critical path
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks and enable project opportunities
  • Ensure the project team are aware of any specific Health & Safety/COSHH requirements.
  • Liaising with the project team and functional heads to resolve any facilities, equipment and resource conflicts.
  • Managing, controlling and presenting (to varying levels within the organisation) project costs, margin and metrics.
  • Maintaining contact with suppliers to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Driving additional business opportunities with the customer.
  • Identifying and championing process improvements.

Besides having strong commercial and contractual awareness, you will demonstrate confidence in risk and opportunity management and will have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the business and other key stakeholders. A high degree of computer literacy (MS Project). Project Management qualifications required, unless significant experience can be demonstrated. Proven track record in managing successfully end-to-end projects/programmes to consistently high standards, with proven Bid and Capture management experience.  A proven track record in successfully leading and managing teams in a matrix structure. Commercial and contractual awareness. Prior knowledge of Earned Value would be of benefit.  Excellent analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex project issues.

Ideally residing within a commutable distance of Norwich (NR7), a full UK Driving Licence and valid passport (with no travel restrictions) will be essential.
