This is an exciting time to join Ipswich Borough Council as we look to deliver major capital projects for our operational estate within the borough's boundaries. You will be responsible for delivering a wide range of construction projects (from inception to final account) on properties including sports centres, swimming pools, a Grade 1 listed mansion, the Town Hall and Corn Exchange, theatre and new office blocks as well as the new house building programme and key strategic developments outside of the operational estate.

You will play a pivotal role in delivering major capital investment projects with budgets ranging from £100k - £5million. You should have a background in construction management or similar industry experience and be able to lead teams of external consultants to deliver projects safely, on time and to budget.

Working from the council's head office (Grafton House), you will be able to manage your time effectively to deliver tasks for which your projects require, this may include early starts or the occasional evening meeting, public consultations (sometimes at weekends) or multiple site meetings away from the office.

As a construction professional, you will be as happy in an office environment as you are on site and will be able to relate to all levels from site contractors through to senior clients such as councillors and directors.

You will have:
* degree level education plus 5 years relevant experience or 5 years proven level of technical and organisational knowledge in a related field
* relevant professional qualification covering building or construction MIRCS, MCIOB or equivalent
* up-to-date knowledge of technical and procedural developments in relevant field.
