Our client is a global engineering manufacturer based in Norwich.  Due to continued success they have 4 new opportunities for Press Operators to join their label printing department.

As well as a competitive salary the company offer an excellent benefits package to a profit share scheme.  The successful candidate will demonstrable experience of operating and managing printing machinery and be able to maintain the machine in running order at all times.

We have two different shift available, an alternating two shift day pattern Monday-Friday and a night shift Monday-Thursday weekly.

Print Operator Norwich.

Key Accountabilities

- Operate press and ancillary equipment safely, correctly and efficiently
- Maintain a safe, clean and tidy working environment
- Produce high quality labels adhering to company standards and procedures
- Timely and accurate reporting of maintenance and repairs
- Ensure TPM and BRC maintenance is performed correctly and to schedule.
- Maintain accurate job related information.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Fully understand press & ancillary equipment set up/use and apply best working practices to maximise production efficiency
- Adapt to quick changing priorities.
- Maintain quality throughout production runs.
- Report on material deficiencies accurately and efficiently
- Organise and prepare plates in line with production schedule
- A high level of accuracy is essential Plate mounting, colour matching, registration, tension, Tab kill
- Prepare inks in an efficient and cost effective manner.
- Report equipment defects using the repair request system.
- Assist with rewinds and packing as and when necessary.
- Proactively engage with continuous improvement initiatives and activities
- Participate and engage in team meetings

The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience

- Equipment selection right tool for the job.
- Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Basic Computer Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts
- Print Quality Factors Print/cutter registration, colour matching, barcode readability, reel tension and die strike
- Operate press and ancillary equipment safely & correctly
- Operation Monitoring Watching gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure machine is working properly.
- Troubleshooting Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Judgement and decision making considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

Desirable

- City and Guilds 5261 certificate in printing or equivalent
- IOSH
- Flexographic print experience.
- Quality Control Analysis - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Process improvement qualification e.g. Yellow of Green Belt, Lean Six Sigma
