BACKGROUND

This leading Space and defence company are looking for a number of manufacturing technicians with a background as an aerospace tool maker or CNC programmer,setter, operator to join the fast-paced and dynamic Digital Manufacturing team composed of highly critical machining repairs and new 3D printed Aluminium parts.

If you are a skilled toolmaker or manufacturing technician with versatile skills, would like to learn about additive manufacturing and would like to join a leading Aerospace player to make parts which are going to be launched in orbit or sent to Mars, then this opportunity is for you to embark with Airbus Defence and Space.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Your main responsibility will be to produce components from CAD models/drawing/design or engineer instructions; occasional verbal instructions.

*Your daily tasks will require you to perform operations using machine tools and equipment's in a competent and safe manner: These include: manual centre lathes, vertical/horizontal manual milling machines, manual surface grinder/off hand grinder, pillar drills, guillotine, band saw, fly press. CNC setting experience would be desirable.

*You will be required to learn the additive manufacturing (3D printing) process, and support engineers in this task.

*You will be reporting to the Manufacturing Team Leader and your day-to-day task allocation will come from the Senior Machinist, project manager or Team Leader and you will be interfacing with Engineering, Design and Production control support as required.

*We will need your clear feedback on the progress of each project/product to the defined work schedule, milestones and hours budget for that specific hardware.

REQUIRED COMPETENCE

*Able to machine manually in a safe and efficient manner.
*Proven ability in toolmaking/Instrument making.
*Able to machine to tight tolerances using a range of materials.
*Heidenhain programming could be an advantage for one of these roles.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

*City and Guilds qualification/Level 3 NVQ

*Minimum of five years' experience working in a precision environment.
