Operations Manager (Cutting Edge Medical Devices Technology)

Our client is a medical devices technology company developing a new generation of ultrasound-based medical devices for drug delivery and minimally invasive surgical applications and providing on-screen feedback to the clinician as to where drug delivery or surgery is taking place in real time.
They have a requirement for an Operations Manager responsible for contributing to the day-to-day running of the business, managing the relationship between the company and its suppliers and maintain an oversight of the delivery of the company development programmes and associated timelines requiring a flexible approach working in a hands-on, small-team environment.
Responsibilities

  1. Managing Suppliers of Products & Services
  • Manage the day-to-day commercial relationship with all key external suppliers of products and services.
  • Manage, maintain, and fulfill any obligations stemming from existing supply agreements with contract manufacturers, suppliers of raw materials, and suppliers of key services.
  • Manage the Supplier Evaluation Process in accordance with the company's relevant SOP alongside the Commercial Director and the Associate Director, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs.
  1. Operations Project Planning
  • With the assistance of the Commercial Director and input from the company's R&D teams, maintain and manage an operational project plan (Gantt chart) for the company's development programs on a periodic basis. Identify areas of risk in delivery of the plan and propose actions as necessary.
  1. IP Management and Legal
  • Manage the administrative aspects of the company's intellectual property prosecution and maintenance activities. Including the company's obligations as an assignee and as a licensor.
  • With the assistance of the Commercial Director negotiate and conclude Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Consultancy Agreements, and Supply Agreements with external third parties and partners.
  1. Quality
  • To work with the Associate Director, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs to ensure that the production and development of the company Medical Device is carried out within the appropriately quality and regulatory framework.
Skills & Experience
The Operations Manager will have a proven ability to:
  • Communication at different levels as appropriate to a broad range of target audiences, for example to reduce technical complexity when addressing a generalist audience (essential).
  • Develop and foster positive long-term relationships with suppliers and other key stakeholders by building and maintaining rapport (essential).
  • Interface with a broad range of functions within an organization (essential).
  • Manage a wide range of projects simultaneously utilizing excellent organizational skills (essential).
  • Operate as a self-starter in a rapidly changing and dynamic small company environment (essential).
  • Take a flexible approach on a day-to-day basis and perform tasks outside of ones job description (essential).
  • Have an analytical approach and generate high quality reports with clear recommendations and conclusions (highly desirable).
  • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism and integrity both to internal and external stakeholders (essential).
  • Negotiate and agree legal agreements (CDAs, Consultancy Agreements, Supply Agreements etc.) using standard templates (desirable but not essential).
Qualifications
The Operations Manager will:
  • Be scientifically trained (essential) with proven commercial and operational experience (essential).
  • Have a scientific degree that is in the, medical, biomedical or oncology-related discipline (desirable).
  • Hold a PhD or DPhil in a relevant discipline. (highly desirable)
