National Institutes Bioscience Co-ordinator and Executive Assistant

Applications are invited for a National Bioscience Co-ordinator and Executive Assistant to support the work of the Earlham Institute.

Background:

The Earlham Institute (EI) is a research institute focused on exploring living systems by applying computational science and biotechnology to answer ambitious biological questions and generate enabling resources. EI is one of 7 Institutes that have formed strategic partnership delivering bioscience solutions to global challenges called the National Institutes of Bioscience (NIB) (www.nib.gov.uk).

The National Institute of Bioscience (NIB) Executive Assistant will be working to the Institutes Director to support both the Director and the work of the NIB.

The role:

The role will provide co-ordination and support for the members of the NIB ensuring that the strategy and brand is developed and promoted via the NIB website, and other ad-hoc activities, provide support for meetings, HR administration, events and media communications. They will manage the budget for NIB and engaging with a wide stakeholder group. They will also assist the Institutes Director with diary management, travel, meetings, and other administrative tasks.

The ideal candidate:

To be considered for this post, candidates must possess at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, or equivalent. The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office programmes and have previous experience of managing a diverse workload within a professional environment. Experience of working in a scientific or academic environment will be an advantage.  Candidates must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and a strong customer service focus.

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £31,250 to £38,100 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.  This is a fulltime post, for an initial contract of 16 months with potential for extension.
