Multi-Academy Trust Trustee/Director Norfolk

ieTrust Ltd is the Multi Academy Trust (MAT) responsible for Wymondham and Long Stratton High Schools and Spooner Row Primary School, with a fourth likely to join in the New Year. The Trust has asked Badger Associates to identify and select individuals suitable to fill an immediate vacancy for a Trustee to join the board and collectively to assume responsibility for the strategic direction, broad policy framework, and oversight of the Trust and all its academies. Trustees take decisions that are in the best interests of the MAT as a whole and are not representative of any one of the constituent academies. They are also Directors of the company, limited by guarantee, and registered as such at Companies House. The trustee board must act as a group and not as individuals.

This hugely rewarding role is unpaid and involves currently eleven, 2-hour meetings a year

However, the Trust is looking to move to a committee-based structure which will mean a reduction in the number of meetings. Located at Wymondham High School the board meets at the schools within the MAT.

The Trusts Vision:

The Trust is building a collaborative family of local schools. They have a relentless drive to challenge, develop and innovate to ensure that what they provide enables young people to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens. With a model based on support and empowerment within a framework of high accountability, they want their Academies to be the best, and inspire each child to discover the skills, talents and interests that lie within them.

What is a Trustee?

The Charities Act 1993 defines charity trustees as those responsible under the charity's governing document for controlling the administration and management of the charity. For the ieTrust, the charity trustees are the board of directors known as the Trust Board.  The work of the Trust Board is overseen by the Members. The Trust Board comprises the Chair and up to eight further appointed trustees

Time commitment:

Trustees are expected to attend an orientation session at ieTrust prior to their first board meeting. Trustees are expected to attend all board meetings. Board meetings are currently held eleven times each year between 6-8pm on the second Tuesday of every month, excluding August.

Papers are distributed one week in advance of meetings.

The ideal Trustee:

The Trustee should demonstrate a commitment to the mission of ieTrust and a willingness to meet the minimum time requirements. You will display both integrity and a strategic vision and possess good, independent judgement. The ability to think creatively and a

willingness to speak your mind are important attributes, of course. You will be expected to develop an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship and have the ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to take decisions for the good of the ieTrust.

Collectively, theTrust Board covers skills and experience to cover the following areas:

  • Financial management, income generation and enterprise
  • Human Resource management
  • National and local government and statutory bodies
  • Digital strategy
  • Marketing
  • Law
  • National Education of all ages and types
  • Business
