Horizon Search & Selection are delighted to be working with a market leading and well established organisation working at the forefront of modern food production. We currently have an opportunity for 2 experienced Multi Skilled Engineer to join their Maintenance Engineering Team in Ramsey.

 

Our client is a family business who successful work with the biggest food retail brands in the UK and Europe. The purpose of this position is to maintain purpose built, specialist automated harvesting machinery and equipment thus ensuring that production downtime is kept to a minimum. The hours are 16:00 03:00 Monday Friday which is a 40 hour working week.

 

The purpose of this position is to assist the Engineering Team in providing support for all production activity. Responding to and resolving machinery breakdowns in a timely manner and supporting the production teams with any machinery related issues. Maintaining machinery, services and supplies to the site in line with planned preventatives maintenance measures and ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all employees and the optimum running efficiency of all equipment.

 

The key responsibilities with this position include:

  • Assisting the engineering team in providing a timely and supportive service to all production operations on site. Minimising disruption and reducing the impact to production
  • Prioritising all jobs in a manner that minimises production downtime
  • Develop the skill base of the Engineering team through coaching, training and development of those not equipped with similar skills. Utilise the experience of others to initiate ones own personal development
  • Ensure an up to date knowledge of all new legislation and techniques concerning your sphere of employment and request training as appropriate
  • Maintain a planned preventative maintenance programme and liaise with the general management team to ensure the minimisation of downtime and disruption
  • Responsible for auditing the machinery in the areas and to carry out the preventative maintenance schedules attached to the machines as well as providing breakdown cover
  • Keep abreast of market conditions relating to engineering developments and elicit feedback and ideas from end users to ensure the company is able to meet the changing needs of customers and to maintain a competitive advantage
  • Ensure all work is conducted in line with companies high standards of hygiene and workplace housekeeping
  • Maintain all equipment to the required standard and advise of any repairs that are needed thus ensuring aavailable supply of equipment to perform the tasks required
  • Advise the Senior Engineer of contractor requirements and facilitate their work on site
  • Escorting contractors on site as required
  • Complete works records as required on a daily basis

 

This role presents a brilliant opportunity for a passionate hands-on person who loves to fix things! The following skills and attributes are required:

  • Educated to ONC/ City & Guilds levels within a relevant subject and ideally a time-served apprenticeship
  • Demonstrable experience within a similar, food manufacturing environment
  • Mechanical/ Electrical experience and the ability to work from plans
  • Excellent fault finding/ problem solving skills abilities
  • Outstanding communication skills and a strong team player
  • A strong team player
