About the organisation

At Think Ahead, we want to see a society where everyone with mental health problems can flourish. That won't happen unless people can improve their social circumstances because life issues like relationships, living arrangements, and employment have profound effects on mental wellbeing.

To drive positive change, we created the Think Ahead programme: a new route into mental health social work for talented graduates and career-changers. It has quickly become one of the country's most competitive graduate schemes, with over 24 applications for each place on the programme.

As a charity we aim to:

-Attract talented people into mental health social work.

-Train our participants to improve outcomes for people with mental health problems.

-Support services to unlock the potential of social work.

About the programme

Everyone knows someone who's had mental health problems. But not everyone has what it takes to help.

The Think Ahead programme is a new route into social work, for graduates and career-changers remarkable enough to make a real difference to people with mental health problems.

We are building a movement of leaders committed to transforming mental health through the power of social approaches. We are bringing exceptional people into mental health social work, pioneering better training, and creating a community of advocates in mental health services and across society.

Through therapy, support, and advocacy, mental health social workers can empower people to manage the social factors in their lives like relationships, housing, and employment hat enable them to get well and stay well.
