Our client is a family owned national care home operator rated as one of the top 20 large groups by carehome.co.uk.  They are one of the fastest growing healthcare companies in the sector.

This is a special role that emphasises on ensuring the residents and their families are supported and engaged in life within our clients prestigious care homes. The residential home is based in Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Key responsibilities:

         To maintain a stimulating programme of leisure pursuits and social events for both groups of residents and on an individual basis.

         Produce a weekly social events programme and ensure that it is advertised within the home and through external channels (marketing team, social media...).

         To ensure that the social care plan for each resident is in place within three weeks of the date of admission and reviewed regularly.

         To organise social and recreational events within (tea parties, fetes, craft fairs...) and outside the home (music groups, dramatic societies, schools, colleges...).

         To assess on a regular basis the effectiveness of the programme of social events and recreational pursuits.

         To liaise with the home manager and the marketing team on a weekly basis.

         To involve residents in social events organised by the local community and encourage community groups to have involvement in the life of the home.


The successful candidate for this position will have:

 

  • Previous experience of organising activities within a care setting.
  • Experience of arranging and promoting events
  • Great communication skills
  • NVQ level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care, would be advantageous
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually
  • Delegating work to activities assistants.
  • Understanding of the different types of activities elderly residents will enjoy.
  • Creative flair with a range of practical skills e.g. arts & crafts etc.
  • Ability to motivate and engage people with good negotiation skills.
  • Ability to plan a calendar of activities.
  • Able to create an environment where residents feel able to participate and contribute ideas.
  • Strong links with the local community

This is a part time, permanent opportunity working 10am-3pm + alt weekends, flexibility is required to work some evenings and weekends where an event or activity has been scheduled.

The pay rate is up to £8.50 per hour (subject to experience)
