Licensing Assistant
Salary: £20,449 to £22,346 per annum pro-rata Hours: 22 per week


Huntingdonshire District Council has an ambitious programme of activities within its Corporate Plan that seek to drive growth and investment in the local economy whilst at the same time challenging itself to deliver good services at lower cost. Licensing has an important part to play in driving this growth, and ensuring that those activities that hold a wide range of licenses are operated in a way that provides high quality customer services, and are safe for all customers.
The Council is seeking to recruit a part-time Licensing Assistant to administer applications for licenses for services, including verifying that applications are compliant with policies.
You should be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines with an ability to prioritise, manage your own workload, be organised and have excellent interpersonal skills combined with the ability to represent the service in a positive and professional manner, including communicating with a wide range of internal and external customers.
Role:
* The post is part of a small team providing administrative support to the licensing team, processing a variety of licence applications and dealing directly with customers.
* The successful candidate will have proven experience in administration, good IT skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities
* To receive and process all licence and related applications received through the post, electronically and in person using specialist licensing software. Applications include taxi licensing, premises licences, personal alcohol licences, temporary event notices, gambling licences, small society lotteries and street trading consents.
* Filing and document management in respect of the teams electronic and manual filing systems etc.

To keep up to date with legislation, legislative changes and council policies
Skills / Experience
* A good standard of general education with a minimum of 2 A-Level passes
* Experience in administration in a licensing, or similar role.
* Use of MS Word, Excel.
* Ability to learn and use bespoke IT systems.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Previous experience in a licensing environment in one or more of the areas of licensing is desirable.
Please note this role will require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an Enhanced level.
