The Post

We are pleased to offer one full-time maternity cover position within our large and ever growing innovative and proactive team.  We are one of the largest post-16 GCSE centres in the UK, teaching English and Maths to approximately 4,000 learners You will be required to teach functional skills and GCSE English to predominantly 16 19 year olds alongside their vocational qualifications as an integral part of their programme of study.  Some experience of teaching students with barriers and challenges to learning would be an advantage and you would be required to course lead a curriculum area.

We teach GCSEs and Functional Skills. Key features of the Centre include:

-Close work with vocational course teams across the College to ensure successful Maths outcomes for those studying full time qualifications. Each vocational area has an Maths course leader.
-An English and Maths Study Centre where students can access one-to-one or small group support.
-A specialist tutorial team working closely with students, teachers and parents and providing support for progression to further and higher education, employment and training
-Dedicated, specialist accommodation, including subject base rooms
-Part time adult provision offering English, Maths, Biology and Psychology GCSE, and Functional Skills English and Maths to approximately 500 students across day time and evening classes.
-Access to the Colleges wide range of specialist services such as our Study Centre, library, additional learning support and personal and financial support.
-A dedicated, friendly and informal working environment

City College Norwich

English and Maths is part of City College Norwich, a large college of further and higher education, and is based on the Colleges main campus close to Norwich city centre.

The College offers a wide range of academic and vocational courses across and is an Associate College of the University of East Anglia (UEA).

In March 2013, Ofsted rated the College as Good (grade 2), with main strengths including:

-The college is making a significant contribution to the wider strategic development of education and training in the city and across Norfolk, in close partnership with the local community, schools and employers. This is helping to strengthen progression routes, raise the quality of provision and improve value for money.
-Quality improvement and staff development initiatives have raised the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and led to improved outcomes for learners.
-Learners make a major contribution to decision making within the college, particularly through the work of the students union president, who is an influential member of the senior executive and corporation.
