Lecturer in Economics and Widening Participation Academic Officer

£32,548 to £38,833 per annum

The role of Lecturer in Economics and Widening Participation Academic Officer will be based in the School of Economics and you will be involved in the teaching of the Economics degree courses, primarily focusing on first year modules to help support the transition of students to Higher Education. You will also act as academic adviser to students from Low Participation Neighbourhoods and as a champion for Widening Participation in the Faculty.

Alongside teaching, you will be involved in the development and delivery of initiatives to support and enhance widening participation activity across the student lifecycle within several of the Social Science Schools (Economics, Norwich Business School and International Development). On a day-to-day basis, you will be line managed by the Head of the School of Economics, but will report as well to the Assistant Head of Outreach and the Widening Participation Manager dependent on the focus of activity.

The Outreach team are responsible for encouraging underrepresented groups within the region to consider studying at University or within Higher Education.  The Widening Participation Team are responsible for strategy and evaluation of the Universitys Widening Participation approach across the student lifecycle including initiatives to support WP student retention, success and progression.

This appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service.  

 

You will be educated to degree level in a related subject or equivalent, have a passion for widening participation and be able to satisfy all essential criteria detailed in the person specification for this post.

 

The post is available from 11 October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter on a full-time, indefinite basis.
