ISP Project Manager

Applications are invited for an ISP Project Manager to join the John Innes Centre based in Norwich, UK.

The John Innes Centre is an independent, international centre of excellence in plant science, genetics and microbiology. We nurture a creative, curiosity led approach to answering fundamental questions in bioscience, and translate that knowledge into societal benefits.

Our research is organised into four Institute Strategic Programmes (ISPs). The Genes in the Environment (GEN) Programme is a scientific project encompassing ~20 Group Leaders aiming to understand the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying plant growth and development in a changing environment. The role:


We are seeking an ISP Project Manager to provide high-level administrative support for the GEN Programme and its scientists. They will work closely with the ISP Leader and Group Leaders to coordinate all aspects of the GEN Programme. Their work will enhance the planning, management, delivery, impact and reporting of research projects and public engagement activities.

The activities of this diverse role will include:

-Developing and managing impact plans and establishing ways of monitoring the impact of our research.
-Providing essential administrative support by preparing reports, tracking project objectives and arranging meetings.
-Organising ISP away days, lunches, seminars and symposiums.

The ideal candidate:


Candidates should possess a degree in Biology or genetics, as well as a good understanding of research planning, execution and reporting. Excellent computer literacy is essential, as are exceptional organisational and communication skills and the ability to work independently. Ideally, you will also have a PhD in biological sciences and experience of database management, website authoring and research project management.

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £31,625 to £38,575 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a fulltime post on a permanent basis.

Interviews will be held on 1st October 2019.
