We are currently recruiting for an Independent Living Manager on behalf of one of our clients near Holt. 

The residential home provides supported living accommodation for adults with learning disabilities in 5 houses located in beautiful 70 acre surroundings, as well as day services offering a range of craft, IT and artistic activity.

Person specification: 

  • Experience and/or relevant Level 3 qualification in health/social care
  • Experience of providing person centred services
  • Experience of working with and an understanding of behaviours that challenge 
  • Understanding/experience of relating to adults with learning disabilities.
  • Understanding of issues of equality and diversity
  • Ability to empathise, be approachable, and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Patience, understanding, with an ability to listen and respond fairly
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Understanding of safeguarding issues relating to vulnerable adults
  • Understand ‘Duty of Care’, confidentiality and health and safety issues
  • Proactive, self-managing and self-motivated.
  • Positive attitude and flexible approach to work
  • Sensitivity to the ethos of a Camphill Community
  • Basic cooking skills
  • Leadership skills and/or experience of staff or volunteer supervision
  • Experience of planning and organising group activities for vulnerable adults
  • IT skills and knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Clean driving licence

The succesful candidate will be expected to:

  • Lead and co-ordinate activities in the house and support tenants
  • Promote independent living skills in the house with all tenants in line with their Person Centred Plan
  • To work with the other Independent Living Managers to ensure that the house is adequately staffed, matching available resources to tenant needs
  • Providing management control and direction in relation to staff duties and responsibilities, to include volunteers, support workers and relief staff
  • To encourage tenants to maximise their potential and support the achievement of personal goals and aspirations
  • To work constructively across the community to ensure a seamless service for tenants and service users across the organisation
