We currently have a vacancy for a HGV Technician at our busy Felixstowe branch. This role consists of repairing state of the art vehicles for a well-respected brand and HGV manufacturer. Shifts are alternating, with one week being 06:00 – 14:30 (30 mins unpaid break) and 14:00 – 22:30 + every other Saturday for 5 hours paid at overtime rate. Overtime is paid at time and a half, and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to increase their earning potential by working overtime and by covering call out etc. Key Responsibilities: • To interpret instructions from the job card/repair order and to comply with repair instructions and stipulated settings and tolerances from manufacturers manuals, bulletins, check sheets etc. • To attend training and to keep abreast of the latest technical information which is circulated or displayed. • To accurately report and record work done and tests carried out and to immediately report any further work required or vehicle faults. • To protect and maintain all tools and equipment by only using them in the prescribed manner and returning them to their place of storage immediately after use. To immediately report any loss, shortage, damage or malfunction of tools and equipment or if any additional tools or equipment are required to complete the repair. • To protect and take care of customers and the company’s property. • To maintain allocated work areas in a clean and tidy condition and to remove all scrap etc. immediately upon completion of each repair. • To provide information, maintain records and carry out all duties in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. • To undertake such other tasks as may reasonably be required • To enhance the image and reputation of the company whilst supporting its commercial interests • To comply with good health and safety practice, all statutory requirements, company policies and standard procedures Required competencies: • Good analytical skills • Proactive approach in maintaining customer standards • Attention to detail • Excellent organisational and problem solving skills Required experience: • Apprenticeship served • Experience in a similar role • Valid work permit Computer skills: • MAN CATS • e-learning • e-workshop • MANWIS • MANTIS • MAN Intranet Specific knowledge: • In-depth knowledge of the truck industry Key benefits: • 22 days holiday per yr. plus bank holidays • Employee car scheme – where you can have a new VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda every 6 months (fee applies) • Average holiday pay – holiday wages are based on your last 3 months average earnings • Excellent facilities • Outstanding in house training • Generous pension scheme – where MAN will contribute up to 8% towards your potential and option to enter private healthcare scheme.
